Western tea-leaf books
Kent reads the swan as a sign of hardship, troublesome conditions at home and sometimes separation from loved ones. Highland Seer reads it the opposite way: good luck and a happy marriage.
Russian-language sites
In the woman.ru list of common figures the swan gets a single line: unexpected money. The kp.ru entry on birds names the swan too: the swan stands for calm.
In combination with other signs
- Cup handle (general rule of Kent). In Kent the handle of the cup stands for the person asking and for that person's home or, if the person is away, the present abode. This is a general rule, not an entry about the swan.
- Rim and bottom of the cup (general rule of woman.ru). On woman.ru, figures at the upper rim of the cup speak of the present, and figures at the bottom speak of the future. It applies to every figure, not to the swan alone.
- Cup and saucer (general rule of kp.ru). According to kp.ru, the cup shows events of the future and the saucer shows events of the past. That is a general rule for the whole reading, not an entry about the swan.
